Well the Luck of the Irish is back in business. The library we had at our headquarters was refurbished a bit and relocated. We love that it has a new home with some new books and a new bunch of families who will enjoy having free books!
When you are as passionate about Seeding Book Deserts ™ as the team here at The Literacy Club is, you tend to want to find more ways to inspire communities and invest in Literacy! We did that with this brand new (bigger) library at our headquarters. Then our master builders decided it was time to create an even more inviting spot for people to stop and read. They did that by…
This library was so much to design & build, Douglas & Chris had fun creating this design for Diane Cripe. She is a fellow Kiwanian and passionate about literacy and books! The library is so popular that within the first month she added even more new books!
After the 1st two libraries we did with San Bernardino County Probation Dept, they decided they wanted us to come out and train them on how to make The Literacy Club’s Peak Roof Indoor Little Library ™ . The team created two kits along with instruction manuals. They then got to spend 4 hours with the teachers at the Building Skills Program showing them how to create the libraries themselves….
What a fun library to build. Kayla Fujimoto ordered this library during one of our recent fundraisers and wanted a nod to her dogs & the Hoosiers. Douglas was able to personally deliver the library as he made his way across the country with libraries in May.
This a special library for our master builder, it was created for some dear friends (and major supporters of The Literacy Club) who relocated from Pismo Beach to Nebraska. They asked for something that would remind them of the beach, their family and us. Douglas and Chris had a blast creating this and then Douglas was able to deliver it in person and install it at their new home….
Our co-founder got on the road in May to install 4 libraries in the Denver area. These were libraries we built for WhiteWave Corporation in December 2016 and finally got their homes. On May 18 & 19th our master builder Douglas traveled to Denver and installed 4 of the libraries at several Denver Elementary Schools (Eagleton Elementary – One Fish, Two Fish; Cowell Elementary – Cat In The Hat; Florida Pitt Waller…
We had the opportunity to partner again with Keck Medicine of USC and USC Department of Public Safety to create a fun “hospital-themed” library near the Ramona Gardens housing complex. This library is our first at a school and since the closest public library is 2 miles away, for many of the children in the community this will become their local public library (just a bit smaller).
We got to build two (2) amazing libraries, both giving a nod to some pretty awesome K-9 officers (Chester & Cody). These are the first 2 of what will be at least 12 libraries in partnership with SBCPD. We will be working with the instructors at the SBCPD schools to train them how to build some libraries so the students can then learn to build them as a part…
This amazing library is located in front of Ace Dog Grooming in Burbank, CA. What theme would you do at a dog groomers … “What Pet Should I Get” of course! The team had a blast creating this library and appreciated the support and partnership with the team at Ace.
